Over the years India has seen its press freedom standing change significantly. It ranked 80th in 2002, then 128th during 2003, followed by 120th in 2004, 106th for 2005, 105th in 2006, 120th again in 2007, 118th by 2008, back to 105th in 2009, 122nd for 2010, 131st in both 2011 and 2012, 140th in 2013 and 2014, then 136th in 2015, 133rd during 2016, 136th for 2017, 138th in 2018, 140th in 2019, 142nd in 2020 and 2021, 150th by 2022, 161st in 2023, 159th for 2024, 151st in 2025, and finally 157th in 2026.
