Voyager 1 has broken through the heliosphere, that protective bubble the Sun wraps around our Solar System, and it’s officially traveling through interstellar space. launched way back in 1977, this little spacecraft is now more than 25 billion kilometers from Earth, making it the farthest thing humans have ever sent out there. and even after almost 50 years of drifting, it’s still nowhere close to another star. at the speed it’s going, it would need tens of thousands of years just to reach Alpha Centauri, the nearest star system. the scale of all that is hard to wrap your head around
