The Shanghai Statistical Bureau's yearbook paints a pretty clear before-and-after. back in 1980 the city had 11.46 million people, GDP was $45.7 billion, and GDP per capita sat at $1,829. fast forward to 2025 and the population nearly doubled to 24.85 million, GDP exploded to $816.5 billion, and per capita jumped to $32,900. it’s a serious glow-up in numbers. #Shanghai #China
