On August 6 in Mandan, North Dakota, 22-year-old Kylie Erhart attacked her three young children with a kitchen knife. A five-month-old girl and a three-year-old daughter died from the assault. Her one-year-old son, Colton, survived after neck surgery, and doctors expect him to make a full physical recovery. Before the attack happened, Erhart kicked the children's father and grandmother out of the house. She then threatened them with a pistol until they disarmed and disassembled it. Afterward, she locked herself inside and attacked the children while holding one of the babies. On video, she told the father: 'Say goodbye to your children.' When police burst into the home, they found Erhart standing in blood, pressing a knife to her own throat and demanding to be killed. The children were discovered motionless on the bed with severe neck wounds. Erhart has since been charged with two counts of murder, attempted murder, and several other serious offenses.
