JD Vance on Strait of Hormuz oil extraction
JD Vance says the United States is pulling up to 15 million barrels of oil from the Strait of Hormuz on some days, with amounts hitting 7 million on others. He claims this stops an energy crisis Iran is trying to create and proves Iran doesn't have the ability to choke off trade, which reduces their leverage. Oil prices are lower than at the height of Operation Epic Fury.

We've made a ton of progress on this, of course. A lot of people aren't covering this, but even as the Iranians are trying to shut down the Strait of Hormuz, we're getting out some days 15 million barrels, some days 7 million barrels. We are actually preventing an energy crisis that the Iranians are trying to create. That obviously is good for our people. Oil prices are much lower than they were at the height of Operation Epic Fury, and we're going to do everything that we can, obviously, to give more relief to American consumers. But at the same time, it also shows that the Iranians don't have this ability to choke off international trade, which reduces their leverage. So the point here is we've got a lot of tools in the toolkit. Sometimes you've got to use the economic tools. That's what the president is focused on right now. Sometimes you've got to use the military tools.
