Jo and Raissa's friendship ended up as the heart of FORGOTTEN ISLAND, and that was a deliberate call. Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado had a bunch more Filipino mythology and supernatural creatures in the mix early on, but the two directors decided the bond between the characters mattered more than all that lore.
