A Certain Magical Index

A Certain Magical Index is a light novel series that kicked off in October 2004, written by Kazuma Kamachi and brought to life with illustrations by Kiyotaka Haimura. This meeting plunges Touma into a world of conflict, where the scientific and magical sides of Academy City are constantly at odds.

It really explores the tension between esper powers, which come from science, and magic, which has ancient roots.
