The name 'Nemo' is Latin for 'no one,' a nod to Homer's Odyssey.
Jules Verne originally intended Nemo to be a Polish revolutionary, but changed it to an Indian prince to avoid offending Russia.
The Nautilus was assembled from parts manufactured in secret across different countries to conceal its origin.
The 2025 AMC+ series Nautilus, starring Shazad Latif, makes Nemo's Indian heritage central and was originally produced for Disney+ before being canceled and revived.
The 1969 film Captain Nemo and the Underwater City features Nemo saving passengers from a sinking ship and taking them to his utopian city.
At least 20 actors have portrayed Nemo across film, television, and voice acting.
