Kim Jong-dae commands a global stage defined by his reputation as one of K-pop's most emotive ballad singers, with a vocal legacy that resonates far beyond the borders of South Korea. While iFANN has not yet collected specific fame metrics to assign a numerical rank to his current standing in the global hierarchy, his influence is undeniable through his sustained presence in music consumption and media coverage worldwide. His status remains firmly anchored in the hearts of EXO-L, the official fanbase established for all members of EXO, which serves as the primary vehicle for his individual support. Unlike some idols who have separate solo fandoms, Chen's supporters operate within this massive, highly organized structure, often identifying themselves through affectionate nicknames like 'Vocal King' or 'Orange.' This collective power has mobilized for significant campaigns, from streaming parties for his 2019 solo debut album April, and a Flower to defending him during periods of intense public scrutiny. The fanbase has also rallied around personal milestones, such as his marriage announcement, demonstrating a deep, enduring loyalty that transcends typical idol-fan dynamics.[编辑]

Chen was the final member added to EXO in 2011 after being discovered at an SM Entertainment audition when he was just 18 years old. A defining chapter fans still retell involves his January 2020 marriage announcement, where he revealed via handwritten letter that he was marrying his pregnant girlfriend, becoming the first active EXO member to do so. Despite facing protest trucks outside SM Entertainment, he remained with the group as many fans launched a 'we stay with Chen' movement to show their support. Another major saga unfolded starting in June 2023, when Chen, along with Baekhyun and Xiumin, accused their agency of unfair contract terms. This legal dispute led to the trio signing with INB100 in January 2024, a move widely viewed as artists fighting for fair treatment. In his spare time, Chen enjoys playing the piano and has built a collection of heartfelt solo releases that showcase his artistic range. His pre-debut performance at the 2011 SBS Gayo Daejeon offered fans an early glimpse of the vocal strength that would later define his career.[编辑]

Contributions from K-drama OSTs, including Best Luck, and live tours like his 2024 Japan shows have further bolstered his income.
