Green Lantern

Green Lantern is an ongoing American comic-book series published by DC Comics, featuring a succession of superheroes who wield power rings fueled by willpower. The franchise began with Alan Scott, who first appeared in All-American Comics #16 in July 1940, created by writer/artist Martin Nodell and writer Bill Finger. Scott's magic ring-based hero spun off into the first self-titled volume of Green Lantern in fall 1941, which ran for 38 issues until its cancellation in 1949.

The Silver Age reimagining introduced Hal Jordan, a test pilot who discovers a dying alien named Abin Sur and receives a power ring, becoming Earth's first Green Lantern Corps member. This version was created by writer John Broome and artist Gil Kane, debuting in Showcase #22 in October 1959 at the behest of editor Julius Schwartz. Volume 2 began in August 1960, spotlighting Hal Jordan and expanding the Green Lantern Corps mythology. The series has undergone multiple reboots. Volume 3 (1990–2004) featured Hal Jordan and the Corps in stories by Gerard Jones and Pat Broderick, but declining sales led to the controversial Emerald Twilight storyline that transformed Jordan into the villain Parallax and introduced Kyle Rayner as the new protagonist.

Volume 4 (2005–2011), written by Geoff Johns following the Green Lantern: Rebirth miniseries, restored Hal Jordan as the heroic lead and revitalized the franchise. Johns' run is widely regarded as definitive, collecting into volumes such as Green Lantern by Geoff Johns Book One (DC Comics, March 5, 2019, 400 pages, ISBN 978-1401288280). The Sinestro Corps War storyline (2007) achieved critical acclaim and commercial success. Volume 5 began immediately after, initially showcasing both Hal Jordan and Sinestro as Green Lanterns. The series has influenced diverse media, including the 2011 live-action film starring Ryan Reynolds, and continues in the Dawn of DC era with new creative teams.[编辑]
