L'estasi dell'oro

Ennio Morricone composed this singular musical piece as the climactic theme for Sergio Leone's 1966 spaghetti western The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The track runs for exactly 3 minutes and 22 seconds and features a wordless vocal melody performed by soprano Edda Dell'Orso. The arrangement blends orchestral strings with electric guitar, trumpets, flutes, and a choir to create a tense atmosphere that mirrors the protagonist Tuco's frantic search for gold in a cemetery.

Originally released in 1966 alongside the film by Capitol Records, the recording has appeared on numerous compilation albums and digital remasters over the decades. A notable remastered version arrived in 2008 to enhance audio quality for modern listeners. The track incorporates distinct sonic textures including whip cracks and rhythmic spurs clinking, elements that heighten the cinematic drama of the scene. [编辑]
