Like Jennie

Jennie Kim dropped "Like Jennie" on March 7, 2025, as the lead single from her debut solo album Ruby. The track blends hip-hop, Brazilian funk, and phonk into a high-energy soundscape produced by Diplo, Leclair, and Jaxxtone. Over a churning electronic beat, Jennie delivers freewheeling rap verses that critics hailed as career-best work. A chant-like hook repeats her name to drive home the central theme: she sets trends rather than follows them.

The accompanying music video directed by Hanbago opens with surreal imagery of an astronaut before shifting into complex choreography with backup dancers. The clip ends with a transformation where Jennie becomes a capybara, referencing her well-known love for the animal. Released simultaneously with the song, the video became Vevo's most-watched premiere globally in 2025, marking the first time a K-pop artist topped that specific chart. It reached 100 million views by May 9, 2025.

Commercially, the single debuted at number one on South Korea's Circle Digital Chart, becoming Jennie's third chart-topper in the country. It entered the Billboard Global 200 at number five. The parent album Ruby sold one million copies worldwide in its first week and peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart, surpassing Rosé's Rosie as the highest-charting album by a female K-pop soloist.
