Prince and the Revolution

The Revolution's work on Purple Rain earned them a permanent spot in music history. The album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2011 and added to the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress in 2015. The film was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry in 2019. Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, and the Revolution's contributions were a major part of that honor. Rolling Stone ranked Purple Rain as the 8th greatest album of all time on their 2020 list. The band's three Grammy wins, multiple number-one singles, and 25 million copies of Purple Rain sold worldwide speak to a legacy that few backing bands have ever matched.
