Woman's World

Katy Perry returned to the music scene in July 2024 with "Woman's World," the lead single from her seventh studio album, 143. The track arrived via Capitol Records on July 11 and blends dance-pop rhythms with bubblegum pop hooks. Perry co-wrote the song alongside Chloe Angelides, Dr. Luke, Vaughn Oliver, Aaron Joseph, and Rocco Did It Again!, who also shared production duties. She described the lyrics as an ode to women being sexy, confident, intelligent, and strong, though she framed the delivery as slapstick satire rather than a serious feminist manifesto.

The release immediately drew criticism due to Dr. Luke's involvement, referencing past sexual assault allegations made against him by Kesha. Critics panned the songwriting and production quality, resulting in a Metacritic score of 36 out of 100. The accompanying music video, directed by Dave Meyers, featured Perry dressed as Rosie the Riveter, which further fueled debates about the song's intent. While some fans dismissed it as a weak TikTok track, others found it surprisingly enjoyable despite the controversy.

Commercially, the song reached number 63 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 47 in the UK. It performed better in specific markets like Croatia and Israel, where it entered the top 10. As of early 2025, the track has not received any major certifications. It was nominated for Worst Song at the 2024 Golden Raspberry Awards but did not win. Various artists have since covered the track, including a stripped-down acoustic version by Maeve and a satirical reinterpretation by Alaska Thunderfuck. [编辑]
